Dear Parents
We are delighted that you are interested in what Turton High School Media Arts College has to offer and invite you to visit the school. We will be holding Open Days in the autumn, probably around late September although definite dates are yet to be confirmed. We hope that your time with us will be informative and will help you to determine the best school for your son’s or daughter’s needs.
We offer Open Days as our means of helping you for very specific reasons. We believe that all parents of prospective pupils should have a realistic and genuine opportunity to assess the school for themselves. You should be able to walk around the school and experience an honest presentation of the whole learning environment. We hope that you will feel comfortable here and feel free to go into some classrooms to see for yourself what is being taught, how it is being delivered and how it is being received. There are no special displays, no special lessons and no special conduct. The school will be its normal self and you will get a real sense of what Turton is all about, a genuine learning and caring environment.
Sixth Form students will meet you and accompany you round the school. Refreshments will be available and during your visit we hope you will take advantage of opportunities to talk to students, staff and other parents.
It is an important time for you and your son or daughter, so please ask any questions and we will do our best to answer them. We will be giving a brief presentation to parents at 9.30 am each day; please refer to the programme attached. You may wish to bring your son or daughter but please discuss this in the first instance with the Headteacher at your child’s primary school. We have agreed a particular day with each of our main feeder primary schools so that we don’t interrupt their Year 6 timetable too much.
We do appreciate that some of you will find it difficult to attend during the working day. In exceptional circumstances, we may be able to arrange for visits to take place other than on the Open Days, either on another school day, or after school in the early evening. If you have a particular need, please contact my P.A., Mrs Joanne Shaw, who will do her best to help you. We look forward to seeing you soon.
