Year 10 Mentors:
You are very lucky to have specially trained members of Year 10 to help you settle into your new school. Mentors are pupils who genuinely care about you and want to support you in your move from primary school. They know what it is like to go through this change and can give valuable advice and support.
They will be with you every step of the way. They will be there on Induction Evening (answering parents’ questions and queries) and Induction day as well as your first day at Turton in September and beyond. Don’t be afraid to ask them anything as they are happy to help. You will also find it comforting to see a friendly face around school amongst the older pupils. Look for the mentor badges
Year 11 Prefects:
The Prefects at Turton High School are there to help you. They are selected at the end of Year 10 when they apply for the job and are interviewed by teachers. They are recognised for their leadership qualities and their care and consideration for other members of the school community, particularly the younger students.
They have many roles in school and you will find them on duty in all areas at break time. You can recognise them by their very smart black tie with the golden griffin emblem and the yellow prefect badge. There are over 100 Prefects in school and they will all be willing to help you if you get lost or have any problems or questions.
Don’t be afraid to ask them for their help. One day you may be a member of this very special group of people!
